Tuned up Thursday: Music ABC – C

It’s Thursday! Which means that today’s blog is all about music again. And I’ve decided to come up with a name for my weekly music blogs. I am doing three different types of post on a regular basis and of course there is the odd one out from time to time as well. So far I’ve been doing my Music ABC, of which you’ll find the third installment today, Songs of the Week, where I showcase some songs that I have liked for some time but that are popping up on my radar again, and Music of the Moment where I list some songs that are brand new to me. Since all of these posts go online on Thursdays I decided to call this series: Tuned up Thursday. Anywho, without further ado, I present to you my 5 favorite songs starting with the letter C. It’s quite the mix again, so I hope you enjoy!

Can’t Hold us Down – Christina Aguilera

Never mind the video, or Lil Kim in this song, but I could not list my favorite songs and NOT include a Christina Aguilera song. She’s one of my favorite artists, especially her Stripped and Back to Basics albums. And at the end of the day, when I have to pick a CA song I listen to a lot, it’s still this one.

Child in Time – Deep Purple

I hope you like 70s rock, because I do. My love for this song goes way back. I was 14 years old when my Dad let me hear the full version on one of his records after the radio only played a cut. I requested it to be instantly put on a cassette tape and I played it over and over and over again. This is still one of my all time favorite songs. They just don’t do music like this anymore.

Come to the Bar – Pete & the Pirates

Pete & the Pirates is a very fun band to listen to. I saw them live when they released their second album and both their first albums have been on repeat numerous of times. Come to the Bar is a catchy song with nonsensical lyrics (you’re my crocodile anyone?). Oh and did I mention the earwurm guitar riff that you won’t get out of your head?

Crooked Sky – Marcus Foster & Bobby Long

When I was compiling this list of songs, I knew I had to include something by both Marcus Foster and Bobby Long. So when I found this song of them doing a song together I thought there would be no better way to include both these gentlemen than by adding this one to the list. If you like singer songwriter songs with acoustic guitars, a hint of blues and a nod to folk, you’ll like this.

Crystalised – The XX

The final song in today’s episode is a song that can quite easily be dubbed my favorite song of the late 2000s. I think I listened to this song so much by the time the decade came to an end that it would deemed unhealthy by some people. Minimalistic with a slight electronic vibe to it, The XX never seize to amaze me with music that is grand in its smallness. They’re great live too, so if you have a chance to see them some time: go!

What do you think of the name Tuned up Thursday?

    • The abc list is all ready to go already. And the songs of the week and music of the moment is very specifically music from two of my standard playlists. I know which stuff is recent and which is not. And if I think I already posted something before I just use the search bar on my blog. 😛
