1 sweater, 5 ways to wear it

As you may know, I love a good sweater. One of the reasons why I love them is because they are so easy to style and wear with multiple different outfits. I already styled up a burgundy sweater last year, but this year, I thought I’d do the same with a grey number. Here’s how I like wearing a seemingly boring, dark grey sweater.

Dark grey knit sweater (Only)

The sweater we will be styling up is this one. It is a lightweight knit sweater in a dark grey color. It has a rounded neck and a pretty high neckline. This makes it incredibly versatile as it makes it a great item for layering over blouses. It is also a bit longer, which is why it’s perfect for both tucking into skirt, but also wearing over jeans. Okay, here’s 5 ways in which I would wear this sweater.

1.) Burgundy

Burgundy sleeveless blouse (Vila)
Burgundy corduroy skirt (Topshop)
Black Patent leather shoes (Dr. Marten’s)

Apart from the skirt, blouse and shoes, I would also wear this with a pair of black tights to make sure I can keep warm. I love pairing grey with a bolder color as it is a great neutral that can be worn with many different colors. Grey + red is one of my favorite combos and here I tried to make the most of it.

2.) Faux leather

Black faux leather shorts (H&M)
Black leather stilettos (Manfield)

A basic sweater such as this one, is also a great clash against a faux leather or coated pair of jeans or shorts. Again, I would wear this one with tights as it would be bit chilly otherwise. The heels add a nice bit of height and I like how this outfit plays around with different textures.

3.) Double denim

Denim shirt (H&M)
Jamie jeans (Topshop)

Double denim may look quite garish, but by layering a sweater on top to break up the overwhelming amount of denim, you can make it work. I forgot to picture the shoes I would wear with this outfit, but I would add my pair of leopard print Chelsea boots. Why? To spice up the outfit with a bit of print.

4.) A touch of blue

Light blue Leigh jeans (Topshop)
Navy Nike Air Max Thea (JD Sports)

The ultimate casual outfit would be to pair this sweater with a pair of jeans and sneakers. I kept it quite blue on the bottom, yet still tried to play around with contrasts. The light blue clashes nicely with the grey and the rips in the knees add to the overall casual vibe of the outfit. By adding sneakers the outfit becomes even more casual and by contrasting the different colors of blue, there is still a bit of interest to this outfit.

5.) A touch of black

Black pencil skirt (H&M)
Black Chelsea boots (H&M)

Another great way of wearing a sweater is by throwing it on top of a fitted pencil skirt. I love these fabric pencil skirts from H&M for that purpose as they are very stretchy and still allow you to move around. The black and grey keep the outfit simple and classy. Add a pair of heels, or if you like to add a bit more coolness, an ankle boot and you’re good to go.

How do you like to wear your sweater?
