In today’s review we’re looking at lipsticks again. I just really want to get some lipstick reviews out before I start focusing on daily videos until the end of the year (starting tomorrow!). This blog post is all about the H&M Beauty Cream Lip Colour. I bought three shades to try, because after trying and loving their blush formula, I wanted to try something else by H&M Beauty. Lipsticks seemed a safe next step. I bought three shades to try. Let’s see how I got on.
Review: H&M Beauty Cream Lip Colour Ablaze, Life at the Taupe, Free Spirit
So H&M Beauty is a solid makeup line that not many people talk about. I also loved their bronzer in Sheer tan, so I knew it was time to try more. I tend to buy H&M makeup online as I find it more convenient. The brand has several formulas and the one I decided to try as it sounded the most exciting was their cream formula. I heard Angelica Nyqvist raving about it, so I decided to try it. At €9.99 a pop, these aren’t super expensive, but also not super cheap. They are a good midpriced drugstore product.
What do these lipsticks have to offer?

The H&M Beauty cream lipsticks have a creamy formula that is nourishing, but it also comes in a bunch of shades. The shades I bought are no longer available save for one, so let’s discuss this formula first. The formula feels very pleasant on the lips, but this being a cream formula I don’t find that these stay put all that well. They are quite slippy and slidy and under a mask or if you are busy all day and forget to touch up you may not like this. It is a good lipstick with a good 4 – 5 hour wear time but it does require touching up during the day and it transfers quite a bit.
H&M Beauty Cream Lip Colour Ablaze

I got three shades as I often do when I want to try a lipstick line. The first shade I want to show you is this orange toned red. Ablaze is the shade that is still available and it is a great orange toned red. Out of the three this has to be my favorite, but it isn’t very unique in terms of its shade. However, there is something about this cream formula combined with this shade that just makes it look really good on the lips. Stunning lipstick at a fair price.
H&M Beauty Cream Lip Colour Life at the Taupe

Because that red was so basic for what I already owned, I decided to pick a neutral that would be more interesting than another pinky nude. The shade Life at the Taupe is exactly that: a taupe with a slightly warm undertone. This shade was limited edition and is therefore no longer available. With this I feel the shade isn’t perfect. It clashes with my complexion (for a lipstick swatch, see below) and it therefore isn’t the best on my fair skin with a cool to neutral undertone. If it had been more cool toned, it would have worked much better for me.
H&M Beauty Cream Lip Colour Free Spirit

When I spotted they did a purple, I knew I wanted to try it. Not many brand do them, especially not affordable ones. Sadly this was also limited edition, but I am glad I picked it up as my only other purple lipstick (Maybelline’s Vibrant Violet) expired and I had to throw it out. So I was looking for a replacement. This shade is quite possibly the most unique shade in my lipstick collection and that’s why I love it. The formula here makes it a touch sheer, making it look a bit pink around the edge when you apply it, but with the right makeup look this is still very pretty on.
How do these lipsticks swatch?

Since this is a cream formula it will come as no surprise that these are very creamy and rich in texture. These feel very comfortable on the lips and they glide on like a dream. Despite the creamy formula they are not sheer at all but they have great color pay off and the shine means these look very healthy on the skin. They do not accentuate dry lips and actually have a more nourishing effect and feel quite balmy. These are not the longest lasting, but these are still a good lipstick to try if you are looking for a comfortable lipstick and you don’t like drying matte formulas.

As you can see in these lipswatches, Ablaze is a great orange toned red, but nothing too unique. Yes it’s pretty on, but I own many other orange toned reds so I don’t feel this is a must have in my collection. Life at the Taupe is cool looking but it pulls a bit green once applied to the lips which makes it a lot less flattering. It just looks like dirt on my face which is not a good look. Free Spirit definitely stands out as being unique. I don’t think it really goes with my look here, but this is one I can see myself wearing more often as it is a flattering purple shade and those are hard to come by.
My final thoughts
These H&M Beauty lipsticks from their cream line are incredibly great lipsticks. I am not a huge fan of cream formulas but these were some of the first that I tried that swayed me to like them a little bit more. These are good for what they are but you should expect the longest of wear time. If you want a long-wearing lipstick you’ll be stuck with matte formulas. In terms of shades I feel the purple is the best one of the three I am showing you here but the line comes in many different shades and they are continuously being discontinued and new shades are added. So even if these are gone, you can still find plenty of other shades that you might like.
Would I recommend the H&M Beauty Cream lipsticks?
If you like cream lipsticks than these are as good as some of the ones I tried by Urban Decay and MAC for sure. My ultimate favorite creamy lipstick formula are the Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks though and these certainly don’t beat those. However, this comes in many shades, are quite easy to get if you have access to H&M (check out their online store if you can’t find these in a physical store) and they are much more affordable too. So what’s not to love?
