Dear readers, followers & regular commenters,
Today’s message is just to let you know that today and for the rest of 2017, I will not be writing any more blog posts or be putting up anymore videos. I’ve decided to take a little break until the new year. So as of today, until December 31st no new content will be going up.
But I of course could not leave you without thanking you for all your lovely comments, the many likes and all the new followers I gained in 2017. Here’s to much more new content to come in 2018! I will be back 1 January 2018 with a brand new blog post.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
Today’s blog post is a quicky to let you know that today will be a little quiet on here and on Youtube. I have not been able to upload a video this weekend because of several reasons. That’s why I figured I would come here and give you a quick update instead.
I’m a day late, but that doesn’t mean there is less of a reason to party. By now this little space on the WWW has been around for 7 whole years. 7 years! If you’d told me seven years ago, this blog would still be around and I would still be doing this and enjoying it, I’d have probably told you, you were nuts. Because what started as a fun experiment because I missed writing, became so much more. This post will take a look back and a look forward when it comes to the past, present and future of this blog.
Happy Birthday Floating in Dreams
A lovely follower of mine, who blogs over on Charmed Wench, left a comment on my blog recently to inform me she had nominated me for The Real Neat Blog Award. I was happy to see her comment and thought I would answer the questions and nominate a few bloggers of my own.
Real Neat Blog Award
To celebrate the fact that my blog turned 5 the other day, I thought I’d do a give away. This morning you could read a review of the twin sister of this product: it is the US drugstore palette L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1.
Did you really think that I would go shopping in the US and not bring back something for you to win? If you saw my massive US beauty haul you might have already spotted this among the madness. I purchased both L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 and 2, but I already knew when I did, that I would be using no. 1 for a giveaway.
This palette features 10 neutral shades. Some people compare this to a mixture of Urban Decay Naked 1 and 2. And it does mimic that vibe. Since I already own both, I find this a bit superfluous to add to my own collection, but I figured that many other people might like a good quality eye shadow palette that has great pigmentation. That is, if this has shadows as great as its sister which I reviewed this morning. Since I didn’t swatch or use this palette, I cannot guarantee that it is as good, but looking at swatches online, I think it’s safe to say that the quality is similar to the no. 2 palette.
I snapped some pictures to show you what this palette looked like and also to see if any of these shadows survived being dragged halfway across the world. It is otherwise untouched and kept safe and sound in a smoke free environment. It will be send to you via snail mail and shipping is at your own risk. I will package it as well as possible, but I cannot be held accountable if this doesn’t reach you intact and undamaged.
Here’s what you have to do to win:
- Follow this blog, either via e-mail or Bloglovin’. You can find links to both ways in the sidebar on the right. Please inform me of your username, so I know who you are.
- Leave a comment saying which item or items you would like me to review next from one or all of these blog posts: US Beauty Haul, Misslipgloss Goody Bag, New Catrice & Essence products
- For an extra chance you can post about this giveaway on your Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or other social media accounts. If you do, please state proof in your comment by adding links or screen shots so I can check. Each channel you post on counts towards 1 extra entry.
This giveaway ends Monday 28 September 2015 at midnight. This giveaway is open internationally. There will be one (1) winner, who will be selected using random.org. Your entry will only count if you fulfill steps 1 AND 2, step 3 is optional. I will contact the winner via e-mail within 24 hours after the giveaway deadline, so leave a valid e-mail address when you leave your comment, else your entry will not count. If the winner doesn’t respond within 48 hours, I will choose a new winner. Good luck and ‘may the odds be ever in your favor’.
***This giveaway is not sponsored. I paid for this prize with my own money.***
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me… Well not to ME, exactly, but to this blog! Today is the day that my blog celebrates its 5 year blog-anniversary. Five years of trying to keep this space going and five years of sometimes creative, or not so creative ideas, five years of 1000 word blog posts and too many selfies to boot. To celebrate this milestone together with you, I have a few things in store for you the next few days. Read on to find out more.
The first thing you must have noticed is a change in theme. I found this theme months ago and thought it would be perfect. I think I ran the previous theme for nearly 2 years, maybe even longer. So I thought that a new, fresh look, would add to the festive atmosphere on here. If you now want to leave a comment, you simply click the grey bubble next to the title. For a like, you click the smaller pink bubble with the heart.
In order to celebrate 5 years of blogging in style, I also have a few tricks up my sleeve. Tomorrow, Sunday and Monday I will have something special in store for you. If I’m not mistaken something with a make up collection video and you may also be able to win something one of these days. So stay tuned if you are curious to see what’s coming up throughout this extended weekend.
Last but not least, I should inform you of a small change in my blogging schedule. In my current schedule I posted 2 blogs on Thursday: nails & music and on Sunday I post anything that is random/ lifestyle related. The change isn’t a big one, but I find myself not interested in nail art at all. I’m glad if I can slap something on and manage to take pictures. It’s not something I lost interest in, but it’s just not something I feel is worthy of weekly blog posts. That is why, my blog schedule will look as follows, as of this week:
- Monday: beauty (reviews, product overviews, skincare, make up, haircare, bodycare, empty products, etc.)
- Tuesday: food (mostly recipes, but I will throw in other random bits having to do with food)
- Wednesday: beauty
- Thursday: alternating between nails, music and books. I want to make books a more regular part of this blog
- Friday: fashion (lookbooks, styling, ootd, do and dont’s, shoplogs, etc)
- Saturday: beauty
- Sunday: lifestyle (favorites, work, health, movies, tv series, hot spots, etc).
Have a good Friday and check back this weekend for more!
On Youtube everyone is doing Vlogmas, and my Christmas decorations have been up for a bit now. It’s almost Christmas so I thought: why not do Christmas inspired blog posts for a week running up to Christmas? Here’s what you can expect from this coming week’s blog posts.
From Monday 15 December until Sunday 21 December, every blog post on here will have to do with Christmas in one way or another. Some of the things you can expect are: festive lipsticks, winter skincare, a Christmas lookbook as well as Christmas make up looks. Here’s my blogging schedule again, so you know what you might expect on what days:
- Monday: beauty/ make up
- Tuesday: food
- Wednesday: beauty/ make up
- Thursday: nail (6 AM) & music (3 PM)
- Friday: fashion
- Saturday: beauty/ make up
- Sunday: personal/ lifestyle/ miscellaneous
I am and have been giving sneak peeks of what’s to come on my Instagram account (@indiequeen84). So follow me there if you would like to know what goes up before it goes up.
Without further ado, I hope you have a great Sunday and a great week. Only one more week and then I’ll have vacation!! Woohoo! And apart from some meetings and some exams, I don’t even have a super busy week at work from what I can tell right now. Just seeing some students for extra lessons and that’s about it. I hope Friday comes quickly and then I’ll have 2 weeks of time for making many more future blog posts.
