Collective book haul (March 2016)

Collective book haul (March 2016)

For 2016, I am aiming to read 50 books in one year. It is the first time I am joining the Goodreads reading challenge and right now I am still on track. One tactic to try and stay on track, is to have books I enjoy on my shelves ready for the taking. And since I’ve become interested in YA and High Fantasy novels lately, I decided to get a few. Well… a few… Once I got going these past few months there was no stopping it. I placed an order online, bought a few books in different book stores in my hometown AND got some books from friends. I am showing you all in the video after the cut.

How many books do you think I got?

It’s the weekend! Which means it is time for part 2 of my collective shopping haul. I already showed you the fashion part of this, which is linked down below in the rest of the post, if you would like to see that too. The best part about this was that some of these items I got for free, with Christmas gift vouchers or were brought back from the US for me by a friend months ago. So even though there is a lot of stuff here, it wasn’t shopped in one go and I used some Christmas gift money towards it as well. This way I’ll have plenty of new items for the blog to review.

Collective fashion haul

It is sale time, which means I went out & shopped! Not all of it was on sale, and not all of it was bought in one go, but I thought I could show you once again my purchases of the past few months. I bought workout gear, some festive clothing items and I’ve noticed my style is changing again: I am all about thin knit sweaters and a-line skirts. Curious to see what I got? Then click to see the video!

A few of the items you will see in the video.

Collective autumnal beauty & fashion haul

Two videos in two weeks! I don’t know where I found the time to do it, but I managed somehow. Today’s video is all about some new bits I purchased every since summer. There are some skincare and body bits, as well as the Urban Decay Vice 4. Then there are some fashion bits too. From sweaters and shirts to a few accessories and shoes. I have tried linking all the items below the video, so you can find them if they are still available. I hope you enjoy this video and have a great Sunday!

US beauty haul: Sephora, Ulta, Target, Walgreens & CVS

US beauty haul: Sephora, Ulta, Target, Walgreens & CVS

***Disclaimer*** Yes, I bought more make up than I could possible need in a life time. Yes, I know I am crazy. Yes, I spent way too much money. If you’re about to leave a comment down below complaining about that: keep your thoughts to yourself. I enjoy make up and the US has much to offer that is hard for me to get my hands on here in Europe. I saved up money so I could splurge and buy all the make up I had been lusting after for months, if not years. I went on my trip with a carefully compiled wishlist and just before I left 2 new eye shadow palettes were released, plus when you hit up the drugstore there is always something more that you will find. This post also includes some freebees that I got and of course I also went a little crazy so I have a lot of products on hand for future reviews and quite possibly a giveaway to celebrate the 5th anniversary of this blog which is coming up this month. So keep your eyes peeled to this spot!

An overview of pretty much everything I bought in one neat picture. I got my hands on a bit of everything, but eye shadow palettes were my main vice. I didn’t buy much of anything else on this trip (save for a handful of books, a pair of sneakers and some Victoria’s Secret goodies) so where my focus used to lie on fashion related items, I decided to change things up and go for beauty this time. I have no clue when I will next visit the US so I figured: since I won’t be back any time soon, I might as well go all out. Below I will give a brief explanation for each picture, but I will not be going too much in-depth so I can save that for reviews. I will not be reviewing any of the minis or freebees I bought/ received, as those aren’t going to be readily available.

Boscia Make Up Break Up cool Cleansing Oil
Urban Decay All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray
First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

I didn’t do much research beforehand on skincare, so I kept that category minimal. So I went with a few minis I found in the Sephora check out aisle so I can try something new. I have never tried any setting sprays yet and I have heard good things about the Urban Decay one, so I decided to give it a go. It’s a product I could easily get a full size of as well, so if I end up liking it, I can always get that. The other two products are cleansers and I like trying out different ones. I had heard of the Boscia one before, but the First Aid Beauty one is completely new to me and both brands I have never tried so I decided to give them a whirl.

Eye shadow primers

Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

One thing high on my wishlist was a new Too Faced Shadow Insurance: quite possibly my all time favorite eye shadow primer. I also picked up a mini Urban Decay Primer Potion as I used to love that before I discovered the Too Faced one and I thought I could now finally compare the two. The Lorac primer is another mini which I was given free with purchase. I can see a primer post coming up!

Base products

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Oil Free foundation in 110
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15 Fair
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard

As it is summer and I am much paler 75% of the year, I didn’t buy too many base products. I had heard good things about the Covergirl foundation and the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer is a cult classic so I had to try it. The Maybelline Fit Me concealer has been discontinued over here and since I still wanted to try it (and some people compare it as a dupe to the NARS concealer) so it had to come home.

Face products

Milani powder blush in 08 Tea Rose
Milani baked powder blush in 05 Luminoso
Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Radiant Light
NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in 03 Brunette
Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder Skin Smoothing Priming Powder and Finishing VeilElizabeth & James Nirvana Black perfume roller

When it comes to US beauty shopping, my rule of thumb was to focus on products I cannot get or at least not easily over here. Milani is a brand that is hard to come by and so I bought a few of their blushes to try. Luminoso is raved about by NikkiTutorials, so I knew I wanted to try that. The Hourglass powder was used on me by the Sephora MUA who did my makeover, I fell so much in love with it that I knew I had to have it. Another make up product on my ‘to try’ list was a brow pomade. Since NYX do an affordable one, I picked that over the Anastasia one. The face powder is absolutely lovely and the perfume roller was a point perk at Sephora.

Up & Up powder brush
Up & Up Complexion brush set with blush, foundation, concealer & finishing
ELF Blending Eye brush
ELF Studio Small Stipple brush
Sonia Kashuk Core Tools Large Shader brush no. 203
Sonia Kashuk Core Tools Small eye shadow brush no. 106
Beauty Blender in red limited edition

The only reason why I wanted to hit up Target was to check out their brands that sell brushes. I found that the make up section at Target was otherwise quite bare, but the brushes were still fairly well stocked. I bought some Target name brand brushes, some Sonia Kashuk and ELF. They are all supposed to be great drugstore brush brands.

Maybelline matte lipsticks in:
Mesmerizing Magenta, Vibrant Violet, All Fired Up, Burgundy blush

For lips, I went a little bit drugstore crazy. Maybelline has a matte line that I had yet to find over here and I am pretty sure none of these shades are available here as I pulled 3 out of 4 out of a display with newly released products.

Milani matte lipsticks in
Matte Darling, Matte Orchid, Matte Fearless

Milani also do lipsticks of course and I had heard great things about their matte line. I went for a nude, a vibrant berry/ pink shade and a scary looking dark vampy color.

Bite matte cream lipstick in Juniper
Maybelline Color blur in My My Magenta
Milani lip pencil in Spice

The only high end lipstick I bought is by Bite Beauty: a lipstick only brand that is all natural and available at the US Sephora. The Maybelline Color Blur is a brand new product just out in the drugstore over there and Milani Spice lip pencil is supposed to be a dupe for the MAC lip pencil of the same name.

NARS Satin lip pencil in Rikugien
NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in Cruella
Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick in Lolita

These three lovely lip products were all free. I received the NARS lip pencils as part of my Sephora birthday gift (my birthday was in July) and the lipstick was another 100 point perk.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart
NYX High Voltage lipstick in Wine & Dine
NYX Simply Vamp lip pencil in Aphrodisiac

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Beloved
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Carina

At a Canadian drugstore I found a nice display of NYX products. I also found one at Ulta, but since that was an entire aisle of nothing but NYX products, I felt quite overwhelmed and didn’t know what to pick. I chose some of their newer lip products that aren’t available over here. I also wanted to try some liquid lipsticks. Both Kat Von D and Anastasia do great one, or so I heard, so I picked up a few shades to try.

Eye shadow

L’Oreal Infallible eye shadow in Amber Rush
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Black Orchid (Limited Edition)
Urban Decay Seven Days of Shadow Deluxe Sampler

I only bought two single eye shadows. A Color Infallible shade that has never been released over here (and the line has since been discontinued over here as well) and a limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo. The Urban Decay sampler was another 100 point perk at Sephora.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes eye shadow palette
Wet N Wild Boardwalk Boozing eye shadow palette
L’Oreal La Palette Nude 1 & 2 eye shadow palette

Shall we move on to the fun stuff? I told you I went eye shadow palette crazy! First some drugstore ones. We are only just now getting the Maybelline The Nudes palette over here so if we ever get this blushed version or the smoky one I do not know, but I found this the most interesting one of the three. Wet N Wild had a crazy looking limited edition collection out and I bought one of those palettes and I also bought both L’Oreal La Palette Nude. I already bought and reviewed one of these in the UK last May and the beige version is coming out in the Netherlands is coming out this month. But guess what?! These are nothing like the ones we have in Europe. For one, the colors are different and these contain 17.5 grams of product, whereas the European version only gets 7 grams. I am curious to see how these compare quality wise!

Lorac Pro 2 eye shadow palette
Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture eye shadow palette
Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 eye shadow palette

On to the motherload as I like to call it. Now of this and the following two pictures, I had placed most of those items on my wishlist a long time ago. In fact, the Kat Von D palette was featured in a wishlist blog post last year. I actually researched most of these to see whether I really wanted to have them. And then, then Anastasia and Urban Decay announced the release of a new palette just weeks before I left. So naturally those ended up on the wishlist as well.

I picked Lorac Pro 2 over the original version after looking at what seems like a million comparison reviews and swatches. I just figured that the Pro 2 had the most shades that are still neutral, but different from what I already have and so I went with that. Naked Basics 2 may seem a little superfluous (I already own number 1), but I actually prefer the shades in this over the original. I have been wanting to try Anastasia eye shadow for a while now, but the palettes sell out really quickly online and the singles are quite expensive and hard to come by. So when I found it, I immediately snatched one up (I went to 6 different Sephora in NYC to try and find it).

Urban Decay Naked Smoky eye shadow palette
Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar eye shadow palette
Kat Von D Monarch eye shadow palette

Since I already own all three Urban Decay Naked palettes, I figured the Naked Smoky would be a good round up for the collection. Plus it has a couple of stunning shades (Radar and Armour), which are also in the Vice 1 and Vice 2 palettes, but here you have them nicely put together. Too Faced’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar was a no brainer for me once I compared it to the original palette. These shades are a lot more ‘me’ than the first Chocolate Bar palette. And like I said, the Monarch palette had been on my wishlist for more than a year, so that was the first thing I put into my basket when I went shopping.

Urban Decay Vice 3 eye shadow palette

Now this palette actually shouldn’t be in this post, but since I took it home during the trip I thought I’d add it here. Last fall, when Urban Decay released this, it initially didn’t spark my interest. The gaudy packaging as well as the shade selection didn’t do it for me. Until I started seeing it being used in eye looks and looked at swatches. And then of course the inevitable happened: it was sold out everywhere. Everywhere except the official UD website. But they don’t ship to Europe! So I bought this and had it shipped to a friend who I met up with during my trip and she gave it to me when I was there. Well worth the trouble if you ask me, just look at it!

There you go, that is everything make up and beauty related that I took home. I know it is an insane amount, but I now have enough products to be reviewing for the next year or so. Needless to say, I am now on a complete make up no buy for the next few months. The plan is not to spend any money on make up until the Christmas collections come out in November. Fingers crossed!

The question of course is: which product would you like to see reviewed first?

Collective fashion shopping haul: H&M, Primark, Topshop, Zara, Pieces & Vila

Collective fashion shopping haul: H&M, Primark, Topshop, Zara, Pieces & Vila

No video sadly this time, but it was simply too hot to be filming a massive summer shopping haul. So unlike my spring edition, this blog post will not be in video form, but will be an old-fashioned picture laden one instead. I saved up all fashion items I purchased in the past 3 – 4 months and I bought a LOT of new clothes. At first I didn’t really like the summer fashion trends, but little by little I found more and more items I liked. I also decided to buy a few items that would come in handy during my summer holidays. This post therefore comprises some items I shopped in the UK last May, a few bits and bops I picked up on random days and several H&M orders. I have linked any items I can still find.

Tip: grab something to drink and some food, this post is a long one.

Black & white palm tree print dress with circle skirt (H&M)
Multicolored floral print dress with color block top and bottom (Vila)

Dresses wise the offerings this season are very very meager. I only picked up two, and for me that is very very little indeed. But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t get two great dresses. Quality is more important than quantity of course. Both have a skater dress design with a singed in waistline. The H&M dress has a fun palm tree print, is fully lined and has a very full skirt and looks stunning on. The Vila dress has a fun floral pattern and I thought the different top and bottom gave this dress a little extra.

Black & White striped bikini top (H&M)
Black & White striped bikini bottom briefs (H&M)
Black & white striped highwaisted bikini bottoms (H&M)

I also got a new bikini. Did I need one? No. I have 3 already and a bathing suit and I never ever swim. But when you find THE PERFECT BIKINI, at an affordable price, you cannot pass up. These balconette models fit me best and it came in my cupsize. That is one thing I like about H&M swimwear: you can mix and match tops and bottoms according to your size. I decided to go all out and buy two pairs of matching bottoms so I can switch it up when I take this with me on vacation this year. Unfortunately, the highwaisted bottoms (a must for me!) are now sold out.

Grey ribbed cropped top (H&M)
Striped cold shoulder top (Primark)

I bought a ribbed cropped top with long sleeves from River Island in London last year and I love that. So when I saw H&M did this short sleeved version I was sold. It is made of a super soft and comfortable material too, so I am positively in love with this. Cold shoulder tops are actually not that in vogue any more, but I had never found one during their heyday that fit me right. And then I browsed a Primark looking for tights and my eye spied this top. I didn’t even try it on, but just snatched it to take home and luckily it fits me perfectly.

Striped tank top (H&M)
Grey t-shirt with pineapple print (Pieces)

So I bought a tank top. Again, this is made of a super soft jersey material, like the cropped top above. It has a very fine stripy design and I think this will be a great top to take with me on vacation or to wear to work, layering under cardigans, blazers and button down blouses. The t-shirt I picked up along with the dress you saw at the top. I didn’t have any pineapple print items yet and where my closet used to be filled with fun printed items like this, I don’t own too many anymore. So I felt it made a great addition.

White lace spaghetti strap shirt (H&M)
White knitted short top (H&M)

White tops. If there is one thing I like for summer it’s a good white top. I love all the lacy numbers out there this summer, but I felt that it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. Until I found these. I bought the lace top a little bit too bit, but I think it will be a great top to take with me on vacation. The knitted top is great because I think it is very versatile and I can’t wait to style this up with some of the other items I gathered in this shopping haul.

White sports top Run Dance Sleep (H&M)
White scalloped edge top (Primark)

I swore not to buy too many work out clothes anymore. I purged my wardrobe in February and got rid of so many tops that I wasn’t wearing. But when I saw this, I couldn’t resist. I have been wearing this to dance class and I love the loose fit of it, which is perfect for dance classes. The white top from Primark I bought while shopping with my friend in Manchester. I bought it on a whim, but found it to fit perfectly and I already wore it the other day. The material is a bit strange, but I thought the scalloped edge to be so girly and sweet looking that I just couldn’t pass it up.

Off white thin cardigan (H&M)
Navy stripe waterfall cardigan (Pieces)

A while ago I wore a dress/ cardi combo to lunch with a friend. It was a beautiful day, but because I didn’t have a thin off white cardigan, I was stuck with wearing a thick knitted one. It was sweltering hot and so I figured I could do with a thin cardigan in a light color. And so I purchased this off white cardigan with rolled up sleeves. I also bought a stripy cardigan. After my last shopping haul, I think you’d be shocked to find that I didn’t own one yet. I love stripes though and I figured this would go with a lot of things and the waterfall front is also very flattering over dresses and goes with almost any outfit.

Acid wash shorts with frayed bottoms (H&M)
Black highwaisted shorts (H&M)

Summer = shorts, but I usually already buy my shorts in winter and then I forget all about them. Not this year! I waited with my short buying endeavours till May and so I got my hands on a pair of acid wash shorts and black highwaisted ones. Both of them are essentials in my book and I am still shocked that I didn’t own these yet. I love that both of these don’t have a super low waist line and that they actually cover your bum.

Khaki shorts (H&M)
Flamingo socks (Primark)

Part of my short binge was also this khaki pair. I do not own that many khaki items and since it is a trend color this summer, I figured it would be a could items to add to my wardrobe. This does have a lower waist, but H&M do these shorts every year in different colors and I have a few of those and love them. The flamingo socks were a bit of a joke, but I thought they were too cute to pass up.

White broderie anglaise midi skirt (Zara)
Camel A-line skirt with button front (H&M)

I already showed you this white skirt on in a lookbook last June. I fell in love with this skirt the minute I saw it in stores. I initially had my sights set on a different white skirt, but that was too long on me and not very flattering. While browsing the store to find that, I found this skirt and it’s the one I ended up taking home. A-line skirts are a staple piece in the current 70s boho trend, but not something that looks really great on me. I tried on a denim version in Topshop in May and let’s just say it didn’t look nice. This camel faux suede version looks a lot better on, but will still be a challenge to style up.

Burgundy romper with pockets (H&M)
Navy printed jumpsuit with drawstring (H&M)

For this summer, I decided to also double my jumpsuit collection. For years, H&M wasn’t doing them, but this year, they were finally doing a few fun ones. I picked up a purple/ burgundy one which is super casual and again made of a super soft jersey material. The navy one is straight up cotton, but again, I thought that would make a great staple for my summer holidays. Both have pockets and look surprisingly great on.

Binx jeans (Topshop)
Leigh jeans (Topshop)

While in England last May, I focused mostly on beauty shopping. I only bought few clothing items. But naturally I had to pop into Topshop and stock up on some jeans again. A pair of acid wash jeans as well as light wash jeans without rips were on my wishlist. The Binx Jeans and Leigh Jeans I’m showing you here both fulfill one of those wishes. The Binx jeans are a lot more stiff and jeans like than the Leighs. They also have a slightly shorter leg and I had to size up to make them fit perfectly. But to be quite honest, these beat even my beloved Jamie jeans. I’m now eying up buying these at least in a white and a black as well.

Minion pyjama pants (Primark)
Acid wash Leigh jeans (Topshop)

So I also fulfilled my wish for acid wash jeans. I had already seen these online, but they had sold out in my size on the Topshop website. But then I found it in store and so I picked up a pair. My H&M ones had seen better days and had never fit exactly right, but these do. The only types of clothing I still like buying from Primark are loungewear and PJs. And so when I popped in on my way to Zara in The Hague, looking for that white skirt, I couldn’t help myself when I found these Minion PJ bottoms.

Coral & navy blue PJ tank (Primark)
Flamingo & blue PJ bottoms (Primark)

Like I said, I love Primark for sleepwear and so I picked up two sets of tops and bottoms. I mainly got these for when I go on vacation as well. I mostly sleep in nightgowns at home, but since they aren’t exactly flattering on (but super comfy!) I figured buying PJs that at least have a set of bottoms would be a good idea. And so I picked up two sets as I will be on vacation for 3 weeks and I like to carry at least two sets of PJs on a trip like that.

Beige & heart print nightgown (Primark)
Navy & polkadot nightgown (Primark)

So this is my usual sleepwear. Primark do these cotton nightgowns for only €6 each and I have been wearing them ever since I discovered them. I usually get hot legs during the night and I find that these work for me summer and winter. Only when it is freezing really badly, will I change these up for long sleeves. They are comfy, but of course not the most flattering sleepwear, but I don’t care. I’d rather be comfy than wear something that clings to me in ways that keep me up at night.

Sunglasses (H&M)
White sport’s bag (Primark)
Black fringe bag (H&M)
Wallet (New Look)

I also purchased some accessories. In my last haul, I had not purchased a single accessory, but now I have. I bought sunglasses. I like buying a new pair every year and H&M does them cheaply and I find them well worth the money. I needed a new sport’s bag as mine had started to fall apart. And I needed an extra bag in England so I could carry everything home as I had only taken my large backpack on my trip there. The fringe bag is not available online, but it is most definitely from H&M and I love it. The wallet was also a musthave: my old wallet had started to fall apart while I was in England and when I found this, I immediately replaced it.

Tan leather sandals (New Look)
Grey ankle boots (H&M)
Tan sandals for wide feet (Primark)
Tan tassled leather sandals (Primark)

You know I had to have some shoes featured in here too right? Again I had a bit of a wishlist on this front: a pair of tan sandals. Sandals and my feet don’t really go together: I have wide feet and a high arch. Anything strappy usually doesn’t fit. Until this year! I found the first pair at New Look in Manchester and they are real leather sandals that are very shoe like. These are perfect for work and are super comfortable. The other two pairs I picked up from Primark. One pair is made for wide feet, and the other is a flip flop type sandal (but also real leather) that is what makes these shoes work. The grey booties are just an added bonus really: they are also real leather and were half price during the H&M sale. I just couldn’t say no.

What did you buy to complete your summer wardrobe?

England beauty shoplog

England beauty shoplog

Two weeks ago I hopped on a plane to visit my friend Alison in England and one thing we did when I was there was shop. I do not dare counting the number of Boots and Superdrugs we went into, myself being the main instigator. Of course I had to figure out the UK drugstore beauty offerings and when I was in London I also splurged some money on some more high end make up. Today I’m letting you have a look at everything I bought.

I managed to pick up a bit of everything. I got plenty of things on sale as both drugstores had several discounts on. But there are brow products, nail polishes, face products, cheek products, lip products and even a few tools. Let’s have a closer look as the picture above was taken right after I unpacked everything late at night.

Real Techniques Bold Metals 200 Oval Shadow & 201 Pointed Crease

I had to try and find the Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes of course. They were quite difficult to find and it seems as if only the bigger Boots stores have them in stock as well. So I had to really hunt these down and I finally found them in Manchester. The Bold Metals are slightly more expensive than other Real Techniques brushes and I can’t wait to try these.

Ecotools Eye Enhancing Duo Set

Part of the tool offerings in UK drugstores is Ecotools. A brand I have heard of before and which is sold in Holland, but a bit difficult to find. I thought these would be handy as travel brushes, because I never want to take any full sized brushes as I find it such a hassle. These are short and double-ended so I’ll finally be able to do some more elaborate eye looks when I am traveling.

Nails Inc The New White White Horse Street
Orly Tangerine Neon
Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Eat my Dust, Stop the Clock, Pit Stop
Barry M Gelly Hi-shine Fondant, Huckleberry, Kiwi
Next Glitz & Blitz Bling Top Coat

You know I had to stock up on nail polish when I was in the UK as Barry M is one of my favorite nail polish brands. And when there is also a buy one get one half price deal on I’m all ears. I also picked up a Nails Inc polish which is a more high end brand which I still wanted to try. The Orly polish was just so fun and bright and I am thinking it will be a great toe nail color. I picked up the Next glitter on a whim, but a rose gold/ copper glitter is one I did not own yet.

Sleek Face Form in Fair
Make Up Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter Peach Lights
Rimmel blush in Pink Rose

For cheeks I didn’t go too much overboard. I bought the Face Form palette as I was curious to try it out and the bronzer actually looks really nice and light. I spotted the Rimmel blush on a whim and thought it would be a pretty every day color. Finally I bought the Make Up Revolution highlighter as I heard a lot about it from blogs. I already used it a few times and this color is really pretty on my skin.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Nude foundation in 010 Light Porcelain
Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in Ivory
Rimmel Radiance BB cream in Very Light

Face product wise I went with a bunch of Rimmel products. For one because Rimmel is cheaper in the UK and their range is so much larger. In Holland, the lightest shade available is 200 Soft Beige in most foundations which is much too dark. But in the UK they also do the lighter shades, so I picked up the lightest shade of foundation and a newly launched BB cream. The Wake Me Up Concealer is not even available here, so I’m curious to try that.

Collection Eyes Uncovered Nude palette
MUA Elysium eyeshadow palette
L’Oreal La Palette Nude Rose

Of course I had to pick up some eyeshadow too. I’m a true eyeshadow junky and I knew there were a couple of new eyeshadow releases. The Collection one is very pretty and the shadows seem to be of a great quality. I had heard quite a few raves about the L’Oreal palettes and after a browse I opted for the Rose palette as it has some very pretty taupe shades. Finally, I bumped into this pretty MUA palette that seems very similar to the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette.

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint & Brow Pencil

I even picked up some brow products. I truly had to stock up on my favorite Soap & Glory eyebrow pencil. And I first couldn’t find it and then I found out they do two different types. So now I have one with a tint on one end and a pencil on the other and then I also have the pencil with the spooly, which is my favorite. I still have to review it, but this has been a game changer for my brows.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm Unapologetic
MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer Kooky, Atomic, Reckless
Collection Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream in Fairy Cake

On to lips! I got some lip products from Revlon, MUA and Collection. I had been eyeing up the Revlon Matte Balms for a while, but it is a brand that is hard to come by and so I hadn’t really tried any yet. Make Up Academy have released these super pigmented lip lacquers which looks so good in a swatch and I can’t wait to try these on my lips. Finally, Collection also has a liquid lipstick out and I was taken by the name and the color straight away.

Illamasqua Ore pigment
Illamasqua Scandal matte lipstick

I went to London for the day and paid a visit to the Illamasqua counter in Selfridge’s. The ladies there were super nice and so I went away with two different products. When the MUA applied Scandal on me, I immediately loved it as it looked gorgeous. Then the eyeshadow pigment will not become an every day product, but this color is so amazing and when applied wet it is even more stunning.

MAC Mehr lipstick
MAC Soar lip pencil
NARS Audacious lipstick Bette

Then I also visited the MAC and NARS counters. I created a MAC lipstick wishlist a while ago and so I wanted to check some out. I came away with a lipstick and a lip pencil, both of which aren’t on my wishlist, but both colors are stunning, look great on me and go really well together. Finally, I bought a NARS lipstick. I really wanted a dark red lipstick and this is the best option I found.

Kiko mixing medium
Kiko cream eyeshadow sticks 19 & 38

Just around the corner from Oxford Circus is a Kiko store. I went in to pick up some more eyeshadow sticks, because I already own one and love it. I also found two more out there shades, which I decided not to buy as I wasn’t sure when I’d wear electric blue and bright teal. So I opted for a charcoal grey and a pretty taupe instead. I also bought some mixing medium and I hope that will make life easier when I try to use pigment eyeshadows.

Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms

Last but not least, I had a few pounds left when I was at the airport and so I wanted to use them up. I also had some badly chapped lips due to airconditioning and I had packed up my lipbalm away in my luggage, so I decided to use my last pounds to buy some lipbalm. Maybelline was doing a 3 for 2 deal on their Baby Lips lip balms and so I picked up two from the Dr. Rescue range in a minty flavor and a coral tint and one from the regular range in a more hydrating formula.

That’s it! Did you make it to the end? Of course my question to you is which products you’d like me to review first. You can expect reviews to be rolled out in the next few weeks. I have been rather busy, but I have already started testing some products this past week. I will try to get the first review up this coming week.
